Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2021-09-30T18:00Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2021-09-30T18:00:00-IPS-001 (version 4)
Quality of ICME Signature: -1 (unspecified)
Note: A significant arrival detected at L1 by DSCOVR. There was a sudden increase of Bt from around 3.83 nT to over 11.2 nT at around 2021-09-30T18:03Z. The arrival is also associated with a sudden drop in density. There was a possible arrival of a sheath region even earlier, around ~2021-09-30T14:15. This signature is maybe from a glancing blow of the 2021-09-28T07:00Z CME, although there might be an admixture of a minor HSS in it as well. The flux rope is not seen until 2021-10-01: from 2021-10-01T12:44Z to 2021-10-02T12:44Z, and the arrival of the flux rope is associated with the second increase of B total to about 12 nT.
